HomePageHowdy and welcome to my amateur radio Website. NEW: Recordings of the STYHC net I've been a licensed amateur radio operator since the summer after my high school graduation in 1993 and currently hold a general class license under the callsign KC5CQM. I'm mostly active on HF from my mobile station, and generally hang out on 40 meters but from time to time I get on 2M and 440 MHZ. I recently built a Rock-Mite QRPp tranceiver that operates at 7.040 and 7.039 MHZ CW. So far I've made 2 contacts (in town) on this 1/2 watt radio, however, a friend of mine across town has an identical rig and has make a 1000+ mile contact from South Texas to Michigan. It's amazing what a quiet band, sensitive receiver, and good antenna system can do. My radios include:
By the way, my newest toys also include an APRS tracker. Now when I forget where I park my car, I can just click this: http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/find.cgi?call=kc5cqm-9 This Website is new. I had previously had some of my hamradio stuff on my work computer (puffin.tamucc.edu) and you may have come here by way of redirect from that site. I decided it would be best if I moved my ham radio to its own domain. By the way, if you're a linux-savvy ham and interested in Webspace, unixshell.com is the way to go! They charge $8/month for their base-level service, which includes 64 gigabytes of data transfer, and you will actually get root! Everything on this site was running under one of these entry-level $8/mo VM accounts, but after adding 2 instances of echolink proxy I upgraded to their "96" plan, which is $11.50/mo. I've actually got 5 sites running on this one account. Their least expensive plan is the perfect thing for hosting even large club websites. |
